The Carpenter’s Shop serves homeless and vulnerable people and has as its vision Dignity and Opportunities for Change.
The Carpenter’s Shop was established in 1981. We are a registered non-profit organization and public benefit organization that enages in social investments to provide a range of services to vulnerable people, most of whom live on the city’s streets. We have been operating for more than 35 years from our premises at 14A Roeland Street, Cape Town and our services include social care, limited medical care, 2nd phase residential accommodation, skills development and training and enterprise development. In addition to the above, our aims are for our clients’ reunification with their families and, or reintegration into society.
Our flagship social enterprise, The Car Wash, offers professional car washing and valeting for the public at competitive prices. Unemployed people are trained and placed in commercial car washes with the aim of earning a minimum of R 3500 per month.
The Car Wash is our flagship social entrepreneurship programme. It was established in 2012. It provides training to unskilled and unemployed people. Your car will be washed by individuals who have successfully completed our thorough training course.
